New to me anyway. The trip went VERY well. G/F and I flew out Friday morning at 6am for Manchester, NH. We landed in NH at 11:30am to 50 degree weather. The dealer had sent a shuttle to pick us up and it was only a 20 minute drive back. I finally got to see the truck in person, it's in very nice shape, I wasn't disappointed. Overall I'm very happy with it. After a quick test drive, some final signing, and installing license plates we were on the road home by Noon. We decided to take a detour and headed East for Hampton Beach. We drove around there for awhile checking out the scenery. There wasn't much open as far as attractions due to the time of year, but we did get to take a couple pics of the truck over looking the ocean. Truck drove pretty well, it needs brakes, which I new, and the tires could use balancing. After driving for a while I started noticing a hesitation during part throttle acceleration. We stopped at an Advance Auto in New York 30 min before close and had them run codes. Nothing showed up so I decided to try some injector cleaner and change plugs while I was at it. So there I was in an Autozone parking lot at 9pm in who know where, NY sitting on the fender swapping plugs. It went very well, and only took 30min to 45min. They didn't help much, the hesitation is still there and I think the injector cleaner did more for it than plugs. When it warms up here I'm going to look into it more. It's not a major issue just an annoyance, mostly because it was unexpected. We kept an eye on the temps as we came home and noticed that each state we drove through it seemed to drop 10 degrees.........50's in NH, 40's in NY, 30's in PA, 20's in OH, 10's in IN, single digits in IL, and 0 or - here at home (WI). I was tempted to turn around. We made the full trip in 30ish hours, that included driving East to the ocean, stopping to sleep once, stopping to eat a few times and dropping in on my parents. We had a good time, it was a lot of fun and even with the few issues I'm very happy with the truck. My best MPG was 13.3. But in an heavy truck with a V10 what can you expect. I found the trick was to keep it under 65. If I tried to stay with traffic at 80mph my MPG dropped to 10-11. I'm not a big fan of stopping on road trips but we did take a few pics so here ya go!!!!
I have found that the online descriptions are more accurate than the local adds. I have bought 6 vehicles over the internet, everyone has been as described and great vehicles. Some of my friends think I'm nuts, but I always get a good deal.
I agree with James and Toyman-It's nice to see others that shop smartly to find a truck they like. These V10 trucks are difficult to find used in good shape, and even harder to find close enough to drive over and look at. I'm very pleased with my new (to me) 2005 crewcab V10,and look for many years of service out of it.
Enjoy the new (to you) truck..
