solid front end question

what year did they stop using the solid dana 44 front axle in the 4x4 half tons and go with the split set up?

thank you sir,thats what I figured it went out with the 79's.found a 1980 bronco for sale about 100 miles away and wanted to know before I made the drive to see it.

well its going to be for a daily driver anyway.looks like a fairly solid one,came from western canada so the frame shouldn't be dust yet.nova scotia winters are hard on gear.I think I may have to make the trip saturday.it runs and drives and have a warn 8000lb winch and bumper so it should be worth $1800.take it home an give it a once over and toss a coat of paint on it.make it a good daily runner.I just picked up a 1989 5.0 engine and trans complete with harness and computer so it might be good candidate for a fuley swap.I'll have to do more reading about it before I get into it.
