Nope, It's going to be a IFS (Independent Front Suspension) front end. There is a article on the website to convert to a solid front end though, you might want to take a look.
so, (i know i have IFS) if i have a 96 F250 HD, that means i have a TTB dana 50 front end? which means i can easily switch to a dana 60 solid front axle (from a 96 f350)? ...sure would save me a lot of money and hassle as far as lifting my truck goes!
BUT, what about the gears?... the gears in the dana 60 solid axle would have to be the same ratio as the gears in my rear end right?
thanks (man i learn alot from this board, i love you kind people!)
A word of caution, i've heard that the solid axle dana 60's will not swap directly into F-250's due to crossmember interference. Before you spend a ton on a dana 60 you may want to search about this. There should be other posts about it. Good luck
well, i'm stoked.. local auto wreckers has a dana 60 with 4.10 gears out of the front end of a f350 i think i'm gonna swap my front end... i still need more info from him as i am only assuming that the width of the axle will match the width of my rear axle... he also has a sterling axle with 4.10 gears for the rear that he says will match (i'm not sure if it is out of the same truck, i think so tho)... i'd rather just buy 4.10 gears for my rear and keep my rear axle tho... (just have to weigh the cost variables)
how can i tell which model of rear axle i have?... to the right of the dif it has the numbers "6065" punched in, can anyone tell me what that means? (i obviously can measure to find the width)...
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 09-Feb-02 AT 04:37 AM (EST)]It will bolt right in, my springs had 2" of lift in the front so there was no conflict with the cross member, front driveline should be shortened 1" though. Actually any dana 60 for an 80to 97 truck will fit the 93 and earlier are prefered for the King pin designs especially for cross over conversions. The King pin design will wear out less often than the later ball joint style. If you are near the North West there is a guy in canada that will beat the shorts off of any wrecker in the states. I got one for a friend three weeks ago, hub to hub with tie rods and sway bar for $800. Email me ill give you his number. As to your rear you have a Sterling 10.25 rear axle. What gears do you have right now? 3.55? what size tires are you running?
Good Luck

i want to go to 35's within the next few months so i figure if i buy a dana 60 front end with 4.10 gears, and buy 4.10 gears for my rear i will be good.
Hey id be willing to send you the 4.10's as soon as i track down some 3.55's for my Sterling Rear. Ill email you that info on that guy. Good choice for the Dana 60.
