I am going to install a EGT gauge on my 05 F-250, would appreciate advise on brands, where is the best place to install probe on the exhaust manifold where to purchase from? thanks
ISSPRO make good gauges and so does autometer. i am a fan of the autometers just cause i like the styling better. if you go with one of these brands you can't really go wrong. as for placement of the EGT probe the best place to put it is in the exhaust manifold. here you will get a more accurate reading on what your temps are. you can put it post turbo but then you will have to add roughly 200 degrees to whatever your gauge says.
I have Steward-Warner gauges, but if I had to do it all over again, I think I'd just buy the ScanGauge II and forget about all the POD's and mounting all that stuff.

Problem with that is that you don't have an EGT probe to get that reading(atleast to my knowledge of what the scangauge II can do) and that is one of the more crucial readings that you need to get rather or not you run a tuner.
If for whatever reason you chose digital over analog make sure of two things:
A. It can do the EGT readings, most of the other crucial parameters are monitored by the vehicle's computer, so you should be able to tap into those with the digital gauge.
B. That it is compatible with whatever aftermarket programming device and tunes that you put on or may put on as there are some that do not fit for every application(although I understand why they do that, I don't think it's the best thing to do).
A. is more crucial then B., as B. is more dependant on where you wanting to go with your truck as far as mods are concerned, but A. is not debatable if your wanting to do everything with one "gauge" and not wanting to mount a single gauge somewhere plus the digital gauge.
I understood that the newest ScanGauge DOES or CAN do EGT. You MAY have to install the EGT proble, but that's no problem....I'd check with the ScanGauge people to make sure tho.....

I checked their website and there wasn't any mention of an egt gauge and/or probe add-on for the ScanGauge II. It seems to totally derive it's information from the OBD-II port. Could you be thinking of the MSDashhawk as the newest version of that I do believe you can do EGTs?
I went with the ISSPRO POST EGT. It was the easiest method. Took about 1/2 hour to install. No issues with the drilling-taping of the manifold or metal chips getting in the turbo. The gauge I have is calibrated for POST turbo use. So my reading are correct. It is in the green zone until 900 degrees. It never went over 600 in stock tune and just hits 600 with a tow 40hp SCT tune with the loaded rig. Most of the time when towing it is about 500.

I don't see how your gauge can be accurate if your getting your sensor readings in one place and the gauge itself is calibrated to work in a different location.
The probe is installed POST turbo in the DP about 1 inch from the exit of the turbo. ISSPRO offers a probe and gauge that is matched and shows the color coded areas of the gauge that are for post turbo use
