Drivers side exhaust manifold, near oil filter, just before bend.

Yes, it's very easily done as well.

Same place I have mine...You just have to get over the apprehension of drilling a hole in your manifold! Good Luck

Do you know if the driver's side manifold is the same for the Excursion? I was just under mine and it just looks like there is less of a bend to get in with the threads. Maybe it will look a bit different in the daylight. Any X owners with pics?

For those of you who haven't drilled the manifold, it's surprisingly easy to drill and tap.
I recommend starting a pilot hole with a very small drill, using plenty of oil as a lube for the bit. Then drill the hole for the tap. It's a lot easier to start a tiny hole in metal and increase bit size than to go at it with the big drill bit without a pilot hole.
Buy new drill bits for the job and a new tap. There is no substitute for a nice sharp cutting edge, whether it be the drill bit or the tap the cuts the threads.

Should you be concerned with the metal shavings left in the manifold after drilling. Doesn't it go to the turbo? Just a little scared about the shaving going though my turbo.

The exhaust will blast what little shavings end up in the manifold through the turbine blades before it has a chance to spin up.

Thanks for the info. What gauges does everyone run? I am looking at a set of Di-pricol for around $350 pod and 3 gauges. boost, pyro, trans temp.

1/4" NPT correct? What is the correct bit size for the job?

I have also heard of idleing the truck tokeep positive pressure and blow the shavings out. Necessary?

I have DiPricol Optix series gauges, very nice products and great LED lighting that matches the dash lighting almost perfectly.
