some times i think the lie-meter is close my dads 04 6.0 F350 is with in 1 mpg towing the trailer or hwy or intown.. i noticed with the trailer every 5 mph you went faster u got 1 less mpg
I have a v10 with 4:30's. I went to myrtle beach a few weeks ago. Lie O meter said 13.5 but on paper it was 13.9. I ran about 75 - 80 to keep up with traffic. Loaded with 4 adults and one 3 year old.
I have found the worst MPG mod you can make... remote start. I bought the X and didn't get the remote with it... went through the first two tanks, 13.5 mpg. I got the remote start, my mpg dropped to 12.5. Hopefully it'll go back up when the novelty wears off (one of the things I've wanted to do on all my cars, just never wanted it bad enough to follow through with it) hehe.
While I wasn't able to pull my TT this trip, I sure wish I had. The convenience and economy of campgrounds or rest stops beats the daylights out of driving until you find a motel!! And the expense of motels, I am sure, would offset the extra fuel used.
I hope your trip was as good as mine. The kids will have great memories, my wife couldn't believe how roomy and comfortable the vehicle was for a long period, and I had ZERO problems!!
We really had a good time. We all were impressed with the comfort and room of the Ex. Even the third row seat is really comfortable, the kids rode in it and no complaints. The 10 year old liked the scenery but the 5 year old would not put her DVD player down long enough to enjoy most of it. My father-in-law commented most about the power of the V10, he is still talking about it. We carried a generator on the TT so even the rest areas were overnight stops. The generator did not roar as much as the rigs we parked beside of. One trick we did when we unhooked from the trailer to take side trips was that we just released the tension on the WD hitch and took the pin out of the receiver and left the hitch with the trailer. Then we just lined the hitch up and backed up until we could get the pin back in. We got pretty good at that.

I certainly don't have mine to be an "economy" car - but I do like my remote start. In the winter it was great to clear off the ice and warm the truck, only used it a couple times this summer to "pre-cool" the vehicle. Is this why you claim it hurts mileage - just the mere burning of additional fuel?

yep, hehe. and I agree, this will be very nice in the winter... Every summer in AZ and every winter in MN I keep telling myself I'll get one on whatever vehicle I have at the time and never do...
so far I've been using it to pre-cool; keep the dog cool and so on... and it cuts down on the time needed to wait for the rpm's to drop before i leave

hmm, Now that an Idea "Pre-cool the vehicle". I like that better than warming it up in winter. As you already know these Black X's can get pretty darn hot in the summer.

eh... Back when I lived in phoenix my black mustang was my daily driver... black leather interior... with an aluminum shift ****. I think I still have the 5 speed logo branded into my palm...

The timer on mine was set to turn the vehicle back off after 24 minutes, I adjusted that to 15 and it's just fine - plenty cool by then (assuming you remember to leave the thermostat where you want it when you shut it off) and in case a phone call or something happens - doesn't just leave the truck sitting there running. If it were to be inclement winter weather with lots of ice, I can easily dial that up.
Not sure how much a car running for an extra 15-20 minutes, at idle, effects fuel consumption. But it beats a warm or cold vehicle for the extra couple bucks of gas burned, in my opinion.
I have not posted here in a while been my 02 7.3 K&N Intake and stage two hypertech max energy i am getting 16-18 in town, High way 24-26 65-80 mph ( on paper doing the math) towing my 8000lbs 24 foot pound car trailer im guest-a-mating 14ish
