I just got 13.6 mpg by the pen, 13.8 by the computer @ about 75-80 mph from Atlanta area to Va., 4:30's ,automatic I generally get about 10.2 around town.
Just got back from towing a 7600# trailer (with wife, 2 kids and 3 labs in Ex) with some pretty good grades - averaged 9.8 mpg. Usually get around 14. I did get closer to 16 on a long trip without hauling. This is calculated mileage, which was pretty close to the computer. V10 with 3.73.
From 104K-190K miles with the 00 X 7.3 with 3.73 limited slip 4x4 have averaged around 17 mpg. It can get as low as 13 mpg in the Winter with a lot of ideling and it's gotten as high as 20 mpg a few times.
Lie-o-meter is sitting at 9.3 after the last 4500 mile trip rt to N.M from Washington state pulling 9K of travel trailer. Lowest tank was 6.5 and highest was 11.1 the day after I had 3,three, injectors changed the second day out.After that it was all downhill as I think I'm missing at least one or mebbee two now.
Highest non-towing highway was 18.3 and avg in-town is 12,or so. My commute is 6 miles each way and is 1/2 freeway and 1/2 street..
I get 10 around town, up to 15 on the highway (unloaded of course). Towing is very variable depending on grades and wind. I have a travel trailer that generally weighs in at about 6500 pounds, a family of 7, plus two dogs and we generally get around 8.3. It has been as low as 6.3 when fighting huge headwinds at 70mph and it has been as good as 9.5 when not in a hurry.
Average on stock program: 17.4 mpg (85-90% freeway; balance around town)
With DiabloSport Predator, 60HP: 17.1 (Same freeway / city)
With Predator 85HP: 14.7 (same-same)
With Preadtor 100HP: 16.4 (same-same)
With DP Tuner 80HP Economy: 16.7 (80-85% freeway)(and has better pick-up than DS 100HP!!!)
With DPT 120HP Race: Unknown; but I'm sure it can't be good. Not the tuner's fault; that would be all mine!!!
I'm off this Friday for a looooooonnnngggggg trip. I'm interested to see how my mileage increases / decreases.
2004 - V-10 - 3.73 - 4r100 - 4x4 - no mods of any sort - 285/75/16
Mixed = 11.8 avg.
In town = 11 avg.
Highway = 12-14 avg.
Towing locally = 10 avg. (Usually 5,500 lbs. includes drag weight plus gear in truck)
Towing Highway = 11.5 avg. (same capacity as above)
RPM's around 2,000 at 70-75 mph
I try to keep the RPM's under 2,500 in most situations. With the occasional lane changes and pulling out in traffic where I try to get up to speed quickly and then taper off to normal (for me) driving.
Basically, I drive like an old man with an egg under the accelerator. It's a good thing I didn't have this truck when I was younger. This thing will move surprisingly fast for such a beast, unfortunately so does the gas needle when driven accordingly. It is fun though, on occasion, to smoke the car next to you at the stoplight.
2000 V10, 3.73
Highway 15.1
Town 13.3
Around town running kids and errands I keep it under 2000 rpm (the loose heat shield is a nice alarm for when I hit 1900 rpm.)
anyone else out there with the ultimate mileage setup for a gasser? My 2wd, 3.73, 5.4-V8 can do 19mpg hwy avg. Just did it on a long road trip this past weekend. I usually get 18 hwy, but 19 was a new best.
