Hello,
Last night when I got into my truck (2001 F-250 7.3L), I noticed my ABS light was on as well as the speedo didnt work. After a while the overdrive light started flashing. Im not sure whether it is the VSS or not. I just replaced it about 6 months ago. If you could help me out I would really appreciate it. Thanks
Derek J.
sounds like VSS ... try cleaning it...if you can pull codes..go ahead and see what shows up... not sure where you got your VSS but Napa has them for 10 to 15 bucks..they call it the ABS sensor...
Make sure that the weather seal is still there in the plug.
What I am wondering is if the female part of the plug is corroded out and you have to replace the connectors.
I've had all this intermittently , but now the ABS is on always 5 sec. after pulling out. What is VSS?
Thanks boys, must have saved about a grand just lurking this site.
When you pull it out, take your time. Don't put too much pressure on it, as it will break, leaving the plastic cup/end still in the housing. It can be removed with a sawzall blade as a pick/punch to pull the remainder out.
Thankyou, Thankyou, Thankyou, once again the forum saves me from going to Ford and bending over.
NAPA part #530780 at $15.29 after tax and all flashing overdrive lights , ABS and dead speedos are no more. So simple, a couple local garages couldn't interface with my truck for codes so I was headed to Ford, whew!
Even got the door ajar light out with the wd40 soak down on all doors.
Thanks again, friends and neighbors think I actually know what I'm doing.
I got mine for a 1992 at autozone. Don't list it for our trucks. Went to napaonline and they don't list it either. Pull it up for a 1992. it shows. Wierd.. O well. I will stop in there. Cheap enough to get one and toss in tool box while i travel
Good you posted napa part number for others to see.Thanks. I save that stuff in a word document for future reference.
