VSS Issue

VSS Issue
So I've been having an issue with my truck, speedo keeps going wild and trans E4OD shifting rough. No OD light, CEL or ABS light. I replaced the VSS and the connector, no dice.speedo still going ape crazy,and it couldn't decide what gear it wanted to be in. The Odometer still works.
So I disconnected the connector and of course now the speedo quits working. The trans no longer jumps.out of gear but shifts hard. It reminds me of when the dome lught/odo/speedo fuse went out.
I'm feeling like there's a short somewhere and the PSOM isn't bad. Any help? I'm lost.
