As far as the glow plug indicator light, I haven't really noticed. I'm going to Mt. Charleston this Saturday (just north of Las Vegas) for a picnic. I'll pay a little more attention to that.
I have never really paid to much attention usealy I get in turn the key while I put my seat belt on maybe light up a smoke by the time I am ready to start the lights already off ...but I will check next time
thats kinda what i was thinking bill...i was like well if he has one he never uses it. i was talking about Power Take Off, cuz dont they use a higher RPM to run those a lot of the time?
That was supposed to be a joke Bill - Brady asked if I had a power take off. My response of "No, but I think MY TRUCK does" is where the humor is supposed to come in .
And yes, I understand that a pto is where power can be taken independent of the front and rear outputs of a transfer case when the case is put in neutral.
I've never seen a PTO on a SD. I'd like to check one out some time. If you crawl under your truck you can see the port in the casting where it would go. But that right there has exhausted what I know about PTO's.
Technically, the output of any crankshaft - lawnmower, electric motor, whatever - is a PTO. It's where the Power is Taken Off of the motor .(or engine - but that's another subject)) But in the truck world, I believe it's limited to an extra output from the transfer case - usually under a plate.
I don't know about off of a transmission, but that could be.

Next time you see one a those huge cement mixer trucks in action, you'll know what a PTO is, cuz that's what used to run the whole schittery.
The PTO bolts to the side of the transmission, not to the transfer case.
its all good i just got in trouble at work for saying fine not find so i need all the help i can get with this typing and spelling.....that being said....Dodge stopped putting the PTO gear in the alloson (spelling on that one i have no idea) Trans to save something like $0.63 per unit.
