Sounds like you still have air in the system. Is there a clutch pedal return spring that you can see? Anyway bleed the system again.

Wow! Hard to take in. The only way a slave cyl. can fail is if fluid gets past the piston seals instead of pushing the piston out. If this was the case you would see the leak and notice a loss of fluid. With 1in of free play in the pedal, a new master cyl. and the system bled you should be getting the full shot of fluid going to the slave cyl. when the pedal is depressed so why are you still only getting 1/4in movement of the slave cyl. rod? Does the pedal feel "hard" all the way down? No spongy feeling? When you checked the free play at the end of the throwout lever did you push it real hard towards the slave cyl. before measuring it?

OK, another thought. I have heard of the flexi brake hoses on some cars softening with age and starting to bulge, causing a low brake pedal. Never heard of it happening with a clutch system but may be worth checking. Have a good look at the flexi hose when someone pushes the clutch pedal down. The hose wall should not flex at all. If all that fails you could try posting this problem on the pre-powerstroke diesel forum, there are a lot of very smart guys there. Please post back what you find and I will help more if I can.

well the thought on the line bulging under pressure I thought about that but is all newer line no rust or any thing so I threw out that Idea. I did drive the truck this morning had to deliver a tractor I promised I would first thing this morning and the more I used it the better it got till it sat for a while then back to the same thing hard to get in gear, im going to try to blead it again, I did look at the slave cyd its dry exep where The bleader is so I wouldnt say its leaking I was thinking it could be getting week enought to not work corectly but after this morning drive Im going to bead it some more and see what happens I will let ya know how I make out thatnks for all the help
