A different power steering box

Tonite, I pulled the body off the 48, and took a couple pics. While standing there, I decided to snap a pic of my 1973 IH 1210 series 4x4. Here's the power steering box....notice the direction the sector shaft goes and how it's mounted, behind all that grime, lol. Maybe a possibility for those with F5's and bigger or COE's? Just a thought to share.

Yep……………it’s a nice picture, confirms that beauty really is in the eye of the beholder. Looks kina Saginaw-ish and probably shouldn’t rust real soon.

question is which way does the drag link move when you turn the wheel? There are a number of boxes that look like they would work, but turn the wrong way.

Try to explain that to someone who barrows my F-2.

"OK, now when you shift the truck you have to push the clutch in, shift to neutral, release the clutch, push it in again and shift into the next gear. It's fairly easy once you get the hang of it. To down shift you just slow down before the corner, push in the clutch, shift to neutral, goose the gas a little, push in the clutch and shift to the lower gear. Oh yeah, one more little thing, when you want to go left turn to the right and visa versa if you want to go right. Here's the key, please don't scratch it."

Hey, it's your perfect way out... "Oh I'd like to loan it to you but it takes special driving skills. Sorry..."

Dave,

I have fun already watching the few people I have allowed to drive my truck to drive it. They all said,"No problem, I learned to drive with a stick". Then they start it up and stop and go down the road until they kill the truck, which isn't far. My two boys, 15&17 have the knack though, they can drive around the farm without much problems but they've been driving farm equipment for years.

Bob, what you have is the perfect anti-theft device. No one will be able to drive it far enough to steal it! AFA the steering box goes, when I bought my F1, the po said the steering box in it was from an International Scout, don't know what vintage.
