i was wondering if anybody had any pics of the spacers they had to make in order to mount the box to the frame.

Sorry unless you mean a ford box not a chevy sag box. I'm running a sag pump with ford box not the opposite. Unless that's what you meant.

yeah i forgot to mention that i grabbed a box off a chevy. I heard they were a little stronger for the larger tires.

Also what angle should I mount this box at??
Should it be horizontal? Like this.

Or at more of an angle.

Dont worry about the pitman arm. I ordered a drop last night.

I've seen the box both ways. My crew has it set up flat and my buddy's '75 has it on an angle like the 2nd pic. His has been running for a few years and is fine.

Here's some pics of the dodge box (pretty much same as chevy - just different ration in the box) I put on my crew. I don't have a great pic from the same angle as yours so I put a few so you get the idea. I haven't run it yet so I can't say 100% it works, but I'm not really worried about the box angle.

I think my biggest problem with it being flat would be the steering shaft. It would actually interfere with the shock tower. Yours actually runs through the tower so that helps you there. I actually saw your install a while back. Didnt you use part of the dodge frame because yours was already hacked up?

Now if only If my drop pitman arm would come in so I could see what angle I really can run it at. I also need some sort of spacer between the frame and the box. I think I read that DOM tubing would do the job when reinforced with 1/4 " plate. And should that plate be on both sides of the frame or should I just put it on the inner part of the frame?

DOM will be fine - just make sure the bolts are not loose within it - meaning the tube needs to be sized properly for the bolts that will go through it.

The strongest way to attach the steering box would be to weld a plat to the inside of the frame. So a vertical plate welded to the ] shape to create a box. Then drill through BOTH the outside of the frame and the new, inner piece and run the DOM tube though both and weld the tube to both.

that's the idea. The longer bolts with the tube running through 2 vertical plates (the outside and "new" inside of the frame) give the thing a bunch more strength and will resist ripping/tearing the thing off the frame.

Thanks for the pictures. That clears up a ton of question. Do you happen to remember what size tubing that was?

I think the tubing was 5/8" x .120 wall. If I remeber right the bolts are 7/16" or .4375" dia. Add .240" to that (double the .120" wall) and you get .6775" which is very close to the 5/8" or 0.625"

It could have been .095 wall though as the OD on that calc's out to 0.6275".

What I did was take a bolt with me to the metal supply place and messed around putting the bolt in tubes on the DOM rem rack until I found one it fit perfectly in.

Thanks for the numbers I should be able to get some tomorrow along with the plate but any an work will have to wait till i get back from Houston. I'll post back up if I have any more questions or when it's finally installed. Again thanks for all your help. If you happen to get some pictures of your buddy's setup besides the two he posted up in the other threads that would be a lot of help also.
