Guys the abs light came on in my truck this afternoon... no flashes, just comes on and stays on.... speedo is not erratic or jumping around. when i turned the truck off then back on the light came back on. any ideas? truck has 160,000 miles on it. v-10 super duty 4x4 11.3 mpg wow!
Well, it will set a code in the PCM so you can have it scanned. Be advised that when the light is lit the ABS will NOT operate. So try and stay out of situations where you think it would've come in handy. Unlike this guy...
will do....a buddy of mine has a matco brake scanner, will check it out tomorow. did a search here and seems to point to a vss sensor...... will wait to scan before i put out cash for parts though,(guess that "mobile home" was'nt mobile enouge to "dodge" that truck) lol by the way, i've got a obd II scanner, but it wont pick up the abs code..... Thanks, Britt

Reason: afterthought
Mine came on when I needed to change out the front brake pads Swapped them out and it went away.
That shouldn't happen Maybe you have a bad connection that got jostled when you did the brakes?
It could be the VSS, but is it shifting any harder than it did before? OD light blinking?
If not, it could be a sensor in the front too... Beware, if it is a front sensor, sometimes a wheel bearing going bad covers the sensor with metal bits
I have the ABS light come on over the years, and it was always the front Wheel Speed Sensor. Easy to remove clean up and reinstall. Then works fine for another 10-15K.
