I have a 2000 Ranger XLT V6 3.0 Engine 2 Wheel Drive with 4 wheel ABS.
I had check engine light come on a few days ago. I had a friend pull code and it was 0113. That calls out an IAT sensor. No problem, I am going to autozone to pick up. I just had my truck in for 4 tires and a wheel alignment.
When mechanic came back he said the ABS light is on. He put it on rack and checked for a loose wire and then blew out front sensors. Light went out for 10 minutes and then returned. I have been reading the threads and I don't have sysmptoms of speedo problems or rough shifting. Everything seems normal except the check engine and the ABS light. Should I fix the first problem and then proceed to the next. Any info appreciated.
No reason not to correct the 0113. Have your friend pull the codes again and see if you have any more codes. What do you mean "he blew out the front sensors"?
What I mean is he used compressed air and blew out the front ABS sensors by the wheels in case the sensors had some dirt or magnetic particles on them.
I have changed the IAT sensor for code 0113 and that was ok. There are no more codes in the computer. So now I have the ABS light on. I have visually inspected the two sensors on each front wheel. Everything seems to be intact. I have removed the negative battery terminal for 1/2 hour. Light still on.
get the codes from the abs module to point you in the right direction. This could be a number of concerns. If the code is for the frt. sensors they both should be replaced according to ford.

I have access only to a OBD scanner for check engine codes. Are we talking about the same scanner. If so where is the ABS module and does it have the same connector. Yes this is 4 wheel ABS. Under the hood the by the battery is the ABS box with 5 lines going to it.
you do use the same diagnostic port under the dash. I only have used the ford scanners, but my understanding is that snap-on scanners can get these codes as well. You may want to see someone who can get the codes for you.
Run this puppy by the likes of Advance Auto or AutoZone, for a no cost scan.
The one's in my area use the Actron CP9145 scanner which can pull your codes. You could call ahead & see if the particular store's sanner will pull your codes.
I have called around some of the autozones and other parts places and the only thing that they can check for is check engine codes. From what I am hearing I need to get Ford to check for the ABS codes. Right now I am driving the truck with no problems other than the light being on. I need to find out how much the 2 front sensors are. It may be cheaper to replace than have Ford diagnose it. In a few weeks my friend who does the major work on the truck, is going to replace the brake fluid and put rear brakes on, only because I am nearing 90,000 miles and I have the brakes in my garage. We shall tackle the problem then. If we fix it, I will definitely let you know.
I would expect some of the more advanced scanners would do the ABS codes, maybe a local shop would be cheaper than the dealer. Would hate to install new parts that are not the problem.
