my wife's check engine light came on on her 03 F-250. went to autozone to use ther OBD II and got a trouble code of P2285-Injector Control Prssure Sensor Circuit Low. looked the code up in my haynes Manual and didn't see P2285. after checking the codes, the check engine light cleared, but i am still skeptical about what it is and don't want her getting stuck somewhere and the truck not starting. any suggestions? thanks

 

ICP sensor is a comon failure point in 2003's. It is a pain to get to as I understand. Hold on for some research material ........

Removal: All vehicles
1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to Section 100-01.
Vehicles with automatic transmission
1. Remove the transmission fluid level indicator.
2. Remove the retaining nut and disconnect the transmission fluid fill tube from the stub tube and position it aside.

1. Raise the vehicle.
2. Remove the bolts and the turbocharger heat shield.

4. NOTE: It will be necessary to position the heat wrap aside. Disconnect the injection control pressure (ICP) sensor electrical connector.

6. NOTE: Use a 1-1/16 inch 12 pt. deep flare nut crowfoot wrench, such as a Snap-On® AN850817B, GAN850817B or equivalent, to remove the sensor. Remove the ICP sensor.

Installation:All vehicles
1. NOTE: Verify the ICP sensor has the O-ring in place. Install the ICP sensor.

Vehicles with automatic transmission
1. Partially lower the vehicle. Working from outside the right wheel area, engage the transmission fluid fill tube to the stub tube.
2. Lower the hoist.
3. Install the fluid fill tube retainer nut.

4. Install the transmission fluid level indicator.

 

If you plan on replacing the ICP, look at the wire itself. I thought my ICP sensor was the problem and replaced it twice thinking I kept getting a bad ICP sensor. Turns out the wire was burnt and was shorting out. Definately look at this first before you dump $100 on a new sensor.

anyway, i replaced the ICP for about $60, 3 hrs labor, and 4 hrs of cussing, but thanks for the input.
