i have had lots and lots of problems with the 2-3 valve sticking on about 4 of 5 e4ods i have ever seen. it will have 2gear all the time and manual 1 sometimes. the valve is in the rear large vb not the front smaller one. i had to take mine apart and scraped off all the tiny burrs that were embedded in the aluminum valve. i scrapped lightly with a pocket knife till smooth. do not use sand paper. it is hard to find a shop that will just take the vb apart and clean it for you, they want to pull the whole tranny. hope this helps. maybe someone can post a pic of the rear vb with an indicator of the 2-3 shift valve.
