My wag is you have internal leaks.
The chip is likely raising the EPC and making the leaks worse.
Gaskets are a bandaid for a the real problem and it will come back.

What is this brace kit?
Picts? Part#? Who makes it? Anything?
See what info you can get on it.

ya know the bolts with the valve-looking deal that bolt the case and VB together? those 3 (i think 3) bolts go through into the core of trans. they leave a gap between the area they thread into, and the case. these are a shim that fit into that area, to keep it from warping when you tighten them. plus, the gasket is supposed to keep warpage down too.

The center support has fluid feed bolts. The bolts are hollow so fluid can flow thru them. They make a spacer that will go in between the t-case and the center support so not to stress/distort the case. Problem can exist from over tightening of the support bolts.

its also very important to remmeber the order that those 3 bolts come out, he could have easily damaged them if he tried to get the drum out before removing them and vice versa. bu i still say its a typical flat rate tranny overhaul, charge for the whole deal and just replace the burnt clutches
