Dan's advice to unplug connections and let it sit is alright, but a hair dryer or heat gun will speed things up. Be carefull with a heat gun though, cuz they get hot.
hair drier is a good idea use to be my favorite tool for a wet engine
You got it back home? Good! There are sensors all over these engines. Any one of them could cause it to not run, or run rough. Check fluid levels, and their sensor connections. Antifreeze level, oil level. If those are low it won't run.
I can't think of a fuse that would cause it to run rough then die, but it would be a good idea to check all your fuses.
Fuel pump. When mine went out, I was able to drive it for awhile. Maybe 5 miles or so, at about 55 mph. The trans didn't want to shift, it ran rough as hell, and it finally died as I pulled in to my driveway. I was able to restart it, but it only ran for less than a minute, then died for good.
Do me a favor... Remove the plastic round piece (held on by two 8mm bolts) that connects the two halves of the intake piping together from the turbo to the air filter.... Once you do that, there will be a black elbow hose fitting on the bottom. Remove it, and sniff the elbow, looking for vapors of burnt electrical parts. It's a possibility that you got water inside the valve cover gasket harness (on the center of each valve cover gasket, inboard) and when you tried start it, it grounded out all 4 of the the glow plugs to the harness, possibly frying the harness and melting all the connections to the injectors. It's a nasty smell. Also, check the passenger side by removing the oil cap and smell that too.
Don't forget to that all of the cranking your batteries will drop quickly. Make sure that they are at full charge. I know that this has been said many times before but it is the easiest one to forget about.
It still sounds like a faulty IPR. Maybe water in the plug or plug not on good. When my IPR went bad, I had most of the problems she listed. Don't know if she has checked the plug or tin nut on the IPR but either could cause problems.
EDIT: Don't know if I have welcomed you to the site yet, so Welcome to FTE, and I also recommend keeping what you got. Even with the problem you have now, it is nothing compared to what you may get with that year 6.0.
yes, its home. on my way out to it now. I will keep every one posted as to what I find out.
Just bumping, hoping lildieselgirl will let us know what she found. Several good ideas popped up lately and would like to know what if anything got her going again.

Glad to hear you got it running. I know you're new to this site but let me tell you, there is a wealth of info on this site that could make your truck into a new truck with not much money, and a little elbow grease. I don't know what modifications you have done to your truck, if any, but there are some really simple ones that will make you think you're driving a completely different truck. The great thing about a lot of them is, they will increase your fuel mileage too! Let us know what your truck is, what you use it for, is it a toy, daily driver, work, towing, and what you'd like it to do. Let us know, we can help you out. John
