Congrats on the fix. So is the new PCM still an E99? If not your cruise light should work now.

If you have not had any luck by this time pull every fuse under the dash and check for any blown fuses. I had a similar situation and a 10 amp fuel pump fuse was blown. Also ckeck your relays

I'm not sure on the year for the pcm. It is a xle4 that was reflashed to the xle8 code. The truck does idle and run better now though, so I think the updated pcm was a good move after all of this

Ron,

Does this mean that the later PCM is not just new software but also new hardware as well?

The VDH2 is from an '02 (that's what I have). '01s have PMT2. I think the only one newer than mine is the one in the '03s (VDH5 or similar). It sounds like you already had a newer PCM -- someone has been screwing with it...

Congrats on getting it back up & running!!

Thanks Ron. I am waiting for a call back from Jody and will ask him if an update reflash will bring an XLE up to a 99.5 level. Will post answer.

Edit: Talked to Diane & Jody. XLE not upgradeable. It is a 402 Code, must be 422 Code to upgrade. Jody said his best tunes are to a PMT1.

Thats what I have. PMT-1. I wonder why Jody said that? I wonder what makes this one better?

Rick,

Actually that is what Diane told me. I'm not sure why. When I talk to one of them again I will ask. But she did say the PMT1
was for the newer stock turbos and injectors, as in 99.5 and up.

maybe its cause thats what he had the most practice with..PMT1 is the first real PCM...early99 has the xle..most got changes over to pmt1 in 99.5..just another down fall for modding the early bird and why alot of chips and tuners wont work....

Okay so a new problem now. With the xle8 pcm if I don't baby the throttle the overdirve button will flash and it will shift hard. The trans temps go up also. I've read that it is in like a limp mode. The rpms have to be high for the truck to shift. If I shut the truck off and then start it back up and baby it it will shift some what somooth but if I get on the throttle it reverts back. It stays in this mode until I shut the truck off again.
Is there a way to have the pcm reflashed or do I need another pcm now. I might just try to buy a vdh5 like what was in there and be done with it.

ether way its going to cost you..dealer can flash it..or jody at DP Tuner may be able to..and with a little extra power if you want it..but i would toss it and get another newer PCM like i said in my last post.....

Thanks Robin, I thought you meant that pcm itself was the best for his tunes. I wonder how many different PCMs there is from 99.5 to 03' there is? Does anyone know this?

I took it to mean that his best tunes are to the PMT1. Most likely for the reason Ron stated, he has the most experience with that particular PCM.

I talked to Jody yesterday about the tunes I want. The 80E with lock-up TC he cannot do right now because he sold the only XLE* he had to someone whose PCM got lost in the US Mail. He had a work around but said without the XLE* PCM it wouldn't be a true lock-up. So I told him I would send my XLE4 to him to do the tunes and that it what I'm going to do. The truck will be down for awhile but its not my daily driver and this way when I get it back the contacts will be all cleaned and the DP Tuner will have been tested to my pcm. Works for me. In the mean time I am trying to find a PMT1 for when I go to single shots.
