just remember, that foster children have most likely gone threw a lot of stuff as kids, such as parents drug abuse, physical emotional and sexual abuse of themselves or other people in the home, along with crappy houses, no or little food... this is the time for you to hopefully give these kids a chance at a good life... my mom worked for Indian Child Welfare for around 10 years... which consisted of removing kids from their parents house and putting them in a foster home, some times the kids where either good friends of mine before they where removed from moms house, or ended up being good friends after being placed in a foster home... they generally wont end up living with you for a long period of time. a lot of the time they will want to go back to their moms and run away or tell their case worker that you are abusing them in some way, hopeing to be placed back with their bio-logical parents... but 99.9% of the time, they end up being placed in another foster home, if this dose happen to you, just remember you gave them a good life while they where there, and hopefully get another foster child asap... and try to give him or her a different life they where they came from... and dont force them to talk about their old life, but let them talk to you... those are my tips if they make any since... btw... some of the foster kids that my mom has delt with are some of my best friends, and when they come over they end up talking and hanging out with my mom more then me lol
We already have two more boys, they called us yesterday and asked us to take them. It was sad to let the girls go but they are so many kids that need help. My wife and I hope we can make a difference in their lifes, they sure have ours. Thanks for the great advise.
