make sure they understand that.

my Friends were foster parents for 40 years, and have taken care of over 200 troubled children no one else wanted.
they had a party over the winter, and every single one of the kids showed up except for one that died young due to heart problems.
and they all credit Don and Pat for the way they turned out in life.
most went from a life of crime to being upstanding citizens because of the open door policy at the house where they were and always will be welcome if there was any kind of problem, or just to sit and have a cup of coffee or tea and a chat.

and over half now run foster homes themselves

Thanks for all the kind replys so far. They are still doing great, seems like all they needed was a little attention. Me and my wife get a full day off with them tomorrow and plan on taking them to cades cove. They have lived only twenty miles from the mountains their whole life and have never been there. They are also excited about going to my sisters farm and bottle feeding her pot bellied pigs. It feels so rewarding to be able to spend time with the little guys. They are so appreciative of every thing.

We finally got to adopt the two boys and we fill truly blessed. It was the best Christmas present I have ever got. It is very rewarding being a parent. And even though I do not agree with alot of the rules we have as foster parents, I am glad we chose to do this. Me and my wife went from no children to four children in the last eight months. We have two boys 6 and 3, and two girls 1 and 5. Hopefully we will get to adopt the girls also. GOD BLESS

So feel free to ask me anything.

For starters DO NOT let it come beetween you and your wife. We have seen more than one marriage destroyed because of this.

Everything with the boys have been going great. The two girls we had went back home on friday. It was probably the worst feeling in the world to let the baby go. They had to pull her out of my arms while she was screaming for me. Its hard to be a protective father and have no power to do anything. She had bonded really well with me and my wife. I know that is part of it, but I was just not prepared like I thought I was. We are going to leave our house open just in case they come back into custody.

My sister and her husband were foster parents to a couple of girls. They had them off and on for several years. They still keep in touch with them and visit when they come back into town. The hardest part was always when they had to give them up to let them go back to their mother. Being a foster parent is really a great thing for people to do, but very hard on them since you don't get to keep them and you get attached. That would be the part I'd have a hard time with. Glad that you were able to adopt the two boys and give them a good home.
