06 6.0l F350 P0487 Dtc

Looked through some other threads here but nothing that really point to what causes this code. I just bolted on MBRP turbo back exhaust, AFE stage 2 intake and put in a Bully Dog PMT. Checked prior to putting the download and have a P0487 code and P1000. The P1000 from what it sounds like will clear with time (Battery Disconnect for AFE filter install), but the P0487 code EGR Control Circuit is got me a little concerned. What is this exactly? Is the EGR valve stuck? The truck is just short of 16k miles. It's running the stock download right now as I'm don't want to put the bull dog download on untill it's cleared. Any thoughts on this?

IMO, if there are zero drivability issues I would just clear it and keep rolling. take her over 3grand often so you 'blow' that valve out. Not sure if you know but bully dog isn't the best or safest thing for the 6.0l. However, I am unfamiliar with the PMT I think it's just a big gauge correct? just don't add power via bullydog, imo.

That's the problem it won't clear. I clear it and it immediately comes back. I've heard bad things about the bully dog Triple Dog, but I think the PMT resolves some of those issues. I guess we'll see. The PMT does have a download option with tune settings though.

Does that mean the EGR is stuck?

could mean a few things. not that it is stuck but the pcm isn't getting a certain 'reading' it is expecting from the egr. Like I said I wouldn't mess with it unless there are drivability issues, that's just me. As for the PMT, do you know what the PMT does that the triple dog doesn't? Basically it's putting out more power than the tranny is able to handle in stock form. custom tunes via xcal are a lot cheaper than a tranny rebuild.

That I don't. It drives fine as far as I can tell I haven't noticed anything that leads me to believe there is a problem No indicator light on dash just the BD monitor indicating a DCT.

Wouldn't technically any of the programmers out there put out more power than the tranny can handle?

no. because custom tunes via xcal tune the ecm and tcm so the tranny is matched with the power output.

Okay.. The PMT does have a Tranny tune section for Extreme and Performance tune settings. Tranny tune can be Extreme or Smooth.

back to the p0487 code and poking around on other sites it looks like this might what I think a bogus code on a 06. It looks like it's a fault in the EGR plate which the 06 doesn't have. I think the 05 still has the wire and sensor installed but I just looked at my intake and there's nothing there, No plate, wires or anything just the return pipe coming from the inner cooler back into manifold. So how can I throw a code for a part that I don't have. Looks like for the 05 there maybe a flash update that resolves the issue, but for the 06 I'm not sure. I wonder if I still have a flash from a 05 on my 06 since I bought this truck late 11/05. ????????
