DTC code p0487

Newbee here anyone know or how to get rid or dig. the P0487 My Bully dog outlook will not del. and also has a P 1000 code. if some one knows what to d please help me out.

I need glasses, I read the wrong code on the 487......not 478

P1000 OBD System Readiness Test not complete, Drive cycle not complete. Anytime you unhook the battery this will appear.

Welcome to FTE these guys got you covered.....unhook your EGR?

P0487 is "Exhaust Gas Recirculation Throttle Position Control Circuit". Sounds like you have an EGR fault to deal with.

P1000 is the adaptive relearn code. It'll go away on its own after driving the truck for awhile and letting the PCM relearn driving behavior and ambient conditions.

Did you disconnect the EGR? Possible reason for code.

i did diconnect the egr and the 0487 code went away and came back on in less than 5 min they i also got the egr code

Insure it is plugged back in and run it for at least 10-20 miles...it should reset and the code should go away....Late 05 and newer 6.0's won't let you remove the plug without getting getting the code.

Your EGR Valve likely does not close all the way due to carbon / soot build up. Probably why when you unplugged it you got little to no benefit. Plug it in and take it to the dealer.
