$10 HPX Mod

I thought since I was in there fixing some fuel leaks I would try a HPX mod. I checked the specs on some Unisource hydraulic line a friend stocked and found out it met all of the specs for this application so I had him make one up. The best part was that with all of the fittings it only cost $10. I did notice that it smoothed out the power from idle and up, but it feels like the truck isn't pulling as hard as it used to. Is this normal or is my mind playing tricks on me?

TJ, Would you just crack a fitting on the HPX to bleed the air out or just run it?

just run it. It might help to crack the line but I would run it first.

I have only driven it to work today, maybe 12 miles, but we'll see after a few more miles. Thanks for the help.

Here I only be aware of how the connections were made, because the pressure is very HIGH there and you dont want a oil mess under the hood.

it will usually take more than 12 miles to get the air out. maybe 50-100 miles and you'll be set.

DO NOT CRACK THE HIGH PRESSURE LINE! on a running truck it gets as high as 4000 psi, a loose fitting could easily blow out of the head and the oil at that pressure would cut you like butter. do not mess with it, these are self bleeding systems. just drive the truck, fords spec after an opened high pressure system is easy driving for 25 miles to bleed the air

Depending on how this works out for you, I'm willing to bet you and your friend are going to have to make up a bunch of these hoses and send them to the rest of us.

And yes, that includes me.
