No it won't run 12's but for a 9000 lb ,22 ft long, 7ft high, 4X4 dually, it will do 15's currently and I'm getting 16 to 17 mpg . It's not boring to drive at all.

But a V6 Fusion will run 15's...

...now if we took your motor, put it into a 4000 lb truck--maybe a stripped-down shortbed F150 or something, THEN it would do something really cool and could be a lot of fun. (I'm also one of these guys who'd love to put an old 300 inch six with a turbo on it into a street rod or something.)

No reason for me to want to drive around 9000 lbs on the street (closest I've got is 5400 lbs of E150--which is fun when it's full of friends or toys, being put to use carrying people and things).

Okay i said the oil thing wrong, we only get 20% of our oil from the arabs... this artical is a bit dated only 2 years, but i know it has changed much....
Dunner's: How Much Oil Does America Import?

hope that satisfies

I just think its funny that people comlain so much about mpg of trucks, when less than half of people that drive trucks only use them once in a great while.... my self included,

also its not that i dont care about mpg, and i just waste as much fuel as possible but i do enjoy my truck and i think that its still worth it to me to drive my truck at the current prices.... somday that might change, but you will never see me complaining about it....

But agreed to earlier post that we should get back on topic...

In the spirit of your article...wouldn't it be nice and even patriotic if we could cut America's oil consumption by 20-25%?

I bet if gas went north of $4.00 a gallon we would see a big drop off in our greedy American gas buying ways........

Ya diesels there right now, i dont see any drop in demand, so looks like its just gonna keep going up just like gas until we do somthing about the supply side of the equation.

what would happen if gas went to over $8.00 a gallon like it is in Germany? What would diesel cost here then? Around $11.00 to $12.00 a gallon? You cannot honestly tell me that these prices would not bring demand down. Hello horse dran wagons and wide spread famine. $192.00 to fill up a 20 gallon tank.....

The truth is that there is still some buffer zone left in the price of fuel. Right now all most people are doing about the price of fuel is complain. I don't know what the upper limit of the price of fuel would be, but my guess would be $5.00 maybe $5.50 per gallon before you start to see a drop in consumption. But that price seems unlikely at the moment due to the economic slowdown will probably bring prices down slightly.

Consumption is already dropping. Something like 90 million barrels last quarter.

I agree...I also don't understand why those same people who don't care how much the spend on gas wouldn't like to keep a little of their own money....its the same people that think they need tax breaks because they give the government too much money....well if you kept some of your gas money you could not have to worry about the expiring bush tax cuts....

Filthy rich, no not at all, I bet i have less money than 95% of you.... im a broke azz college student working to pay off my school and toys.... I just realize life sucks and theres nothing you can do about the gas prices except by a high mpg car, or just deal with it.

I choose to pay the extra money to drive my truck because I enjoy haveing a vehicle that i can do what ever with and never let me down.

So maybe you should shut up and quit complaining about gas prices.. buy a damn hybrid....
