ahh i see! i like... however, where the ram is gonna have to be placed (to achieve proper ackerman angle) it wont be completely above the axle tube allowing me to bend the end down and weld to cast. it will end up being more in front than anything. i would have to bend the tube, bring the tube back over the diff and then bend it down. i dont have that much tube

all Im hearing is wwaaaa wwaaaa! j/k

I dont think it would matter if the ram was straight above the mount or 90* horizontal to it. Im more of an idea man than someone with working knowledge of setting up hydro. Ive see some setups but when you start talking about ackerman angle you lose me.

It seems you might have a height issue with the mount being too tall. correct?

well i have to keep my steering so the ram points directly at the steering arm hole on each knuckle. if i can keep it straight it doesnt matter how the mount is built

what do you mean mount is too tall? are you referring to your drawing?

both of our drawings actually.

In the pic of your front suspensio you posted it doesnt seem like you have an incredable amount of room to play with.

For example:
if you build a mount like I suggested straight up above the axle centerline and with your wheels pointing straight your tie rod is 5" from the axle tube Id mount the ram 90* 5" out. That way the arms of the ram would be directly over the tie rod. Make sense?

If Nick cant come up with a good solution your best bet might be to ask on pirate. I hate that site but the guys there know their chit and do this quite often.

i dont see a problem with our design....there is plenty of room between the diff and radius arm.......but i can damn sure come up with ideas......

why do the tie rods have to perfectly parallel with the axle and inline with knuckle?

lots of setups have the tie rods going in some....

ahh ok. makes sense. i see, problem with that is i would be in danger of hitting my oil pan with the ram. i think it would be too far up.

i will just have to go out and tinker with the ram and just try to hold it up in the best place i can.

although you can swing stock aftermarket high steer arms around the back and it will work, your ackerman angle will suck ****. i highly recommend getting undrilled arms, and drilling the holes with ackerman angle in mind.

i know you want to set it up great.....with perfect ackerman angle, but isn't it offroad only, max speed maybe 15mph on a dirt road?

i agree.... but do you think it will hold up? i am still going to explore all these ideas. this way is just a good bit easier/quicker

she's a trailer queen! 15MPH is prolly more than its been. not saying i wont but it'll be few and far between.
