For them to isolate any technical issues that may be encountered, a known good working test environment is required to avoid having to troubleshoot a problem that isn't even related to their product.
Everything works in my 78. Just the dash lights are dim when turned up all the way. Of course I can still read all the gauges, but I prefer a darker dash, but these are really dim.
IMO these dash lights were designed for a time and a place where there was nowhere near the light thats produced now. your eyes would adjust to the darkness and the dim dash lights would seem bright.
Here's north america at night,go back 30 some years and there isnt half the lights on at night
i think people in the 70's didn't like new fangled things, like light-em-upper thingies... so ford catered to all the old grumps and put those thick blue caps on over the bulbs so there customers didn't go blind if they had to leave their cave for a late night trip to get some brontosaurus milk.
