there was a mazda tranny in some f150s not sure which one thou. but i think this problem isnt in the tranny itself but the little cam bolt that holds the shifter in place. these seem to be notorious for going out and can cause all kinds of wierd shifter movments. i had one that would alow you too almost spin the whole shifter around while in gear. i would check that first as its a easy fix and you dont hav eto remove the tranny
my reason for this also is the only time ive ever seen a shifter be pulled from the case is if you dont know how to drive and your constantly yanking on it tryin to grab gears. why i say not knowing how to drive?? if you know your truck you know how far to pull the stick, when you dont know how to drive yoiu just yank until its about to come threw the seat hoping it goes or you miss the gear and slam it yanking on the stick. either way ive seen this maybe twice. both times same person, he was an idiot.
just to give ya an idea of how much an idiot he was. he a had a f150 with a 4inch body lift and 33x12.50...get ready for it......SHOVELS. and couldnt figure out how come my ranger with 31x10.50 mud terrians could go threw more mud.
I checked the bolt that holds the shifter in play and it is good. It must have to do with the rod the shifter bolts on to and goes in the tranny. Thats were it looks likeits coming from anyways.

wait i get what your saying now and are you sure that its good??? take that bolt out and check it. while you have it out reach down and grab the shaft that goes into the tranny with channel locks or something and see if you can pull it up or down or move it around. if you haev any mechanical skills at all this should take you a hour tops. and it will tell you where your problem lies.
