since i changed from single to dual exhaust the transmission seems to be slower to go into high gear. I have to let off the gas around 40 to get it to go. if not it will take a long time for it to shift.
i think i would consider changing the trans oil, the filter, and washing out the pan. see how much crud is floating around inside and sticking the valve spools.
thats odd that it happened at the same time as your exhaust work gettin done but i have a feeling that they are not related i agree though change the filter, clean the pan out real good and some new trans oil in there it should shift better and firmer, try that then post if your still having trouble
I am going to change trans fluid / filter. I have seen a lot of traffic on larger aluminum transmission pans with cooling fins. is this a good idea? Is there a specific brand of filter that is better than others?
Thanks
Dan
Did you say it was a C-6 tranny? If it is, check the vacuum hose on the modulator valve on tha passanger side of the tranny. It could have been knocked off during the exhaust instalation. Give a little more info on your ride so we can give you better answers and opinions. Thanks
There are no factory installed C6's in a 98 anything .................. Never heard of being able to mate a C6 to a modular motor.
The Ford C6 transmission was built between 1966 and 1996.
Applications:
* 1978–1991 Ford Bronco
* 1967–1996 Ford F-Series
* 1964–1970 Ford Fairlane
* 1966–1980 Ford LTD
* 1977–1979 Ford LTD II
* 1966–1979 Ford Ranchero
* 1968–1979 Ford Thunderbird
* 1968–1976 Ford Torino
* 1966–1979 Lincolns
* 1966–1969 Mercury Comet
* 1967–1978 Mercury Cougar
* 1966–1972 Mercury Meteor
* 1968–1976 Mercury Montego
You may have lost some low end torque when opening up the exhaust which will require more throttle to keep it moving, so the tranny isn't ready to drop in to OD like it was before with less throttle.
Although, it had no effect on my 01 with w 4R70W tranny.
