I've got a line on two others but they are both 2002 models, one with 66K the other at 83K. Both are one owners. Is a one owner a better choice to you guys?
What's the price of these others? It really all depends on how the truck has been taken care of by the previous owner(s).
More thorough test drive inspection of the vehicle today. Truck has 3" level kit coupled with air bags in back. Engine mod was Volant cold air intake. Turbo was listed as Garrett (not stock?)
I drove it for about 25-30 miles. The noise/whine I previously mentioned is noise coming off the turbo, when you get into it and the turbo spools up as soon as you let off the accelerator pedal it sounds like its releasing pressure. This noise was at most RPM's above 1500 and could be generated with any type of quick or long turbo tip-in.
Since I do not have experience with the 7.3 turbo for this model range was this whine pressure release the wastegate?
Finally, on hard right hand turns it sounded as if the left hub was popping. I checked and it was not locked. Truck had ESOF.
That release sound is excess pressure blowing back through the turbo and is completely normal. They call that Darth Vader "talkin' to ya".
That popping noise would have me a bit concerned. That is definitely not normal. Could be bearings.
Used 2003 7.3 F350CC, 4WD, Auto, Leather, Heated Seats. Truck interior loks spotless. Mileage on it is 44,600. Truck has air bags and obviously was used to tow since there is a hole in the bed. There are a few dings and slight scratches.
I drove it and it seemed to shift fine with no obvious noise and crisp. It did have a odd sound to me when shifting like there was a piece of hollow type metal slightly ringing but that may be the 7.3 or this truck. I have not driven a PS Turbo in this model.
The oasis report reads one warranty claim in 2008 for the following:
I've no idea what that is. Someone here shurely knows if it is significant.
Dealer window price is 28,900 and he's offered it to me at 26,900. What do you guys think its worth? Any comments-good or bad? Good choice or run away....
I bought mine in '03 and it had 78k on it. I think I gave like $26,400 for it then. I thought it was high, but its what I wanted,so I got it. I don't have heated seats tho,but I hate leather anyways
I don't think that's too high. You might get him to come down a little because of the hub concerns. I paid 21k for my '02 XLT 2WD CC SB back in Jan '07 with 60k on it. I think it was worth it, and personally, I'd buy the '03 4WD Lariat for 4 or 5k more. Especially with only 45k on it! The last PO probably got scared off by diesel prices.
