How much should it be.....

Used 2003 7.3 F350CC, 4WD, Auto, Leather, Heated Seats. Truck interior loks spotless. Mileage on it is 44,600. Truck has air bags and obviously was used to tow since there is a hole in the bed. There are a few dings and slight scratches.

I drove it and it seemed to shift fine with no obvious noise and crisp. It did have a odd sound to me when shifting like there was a piece of hollow type metal slightly ringing but that may be the 7.3 or this truck. I have not driven a PS Turbo in this model.

The oasis report reads one warranty claim in 2008 for the following:

F7TZ 12K073B TRNSDC ASY-C/SHT PSN 001 07S57B
REplace CMP Sensor per FSA 07S57.

I've no idea what that is. Someone here shurely knows if it is significant.

Dealer window price is 28,900 and he's offered it to me at 26,900. What do you guys think its worth? Any comments-good or bad? Good choice or run away....

Price is too high, though it depends on where you are. I still think too high. The CMP is a common recall/failure item. It is a hall effect sensor mounted to the front cover on the engine that detects the crank position for timing. When it fails the truck is dead. You are lucky. Nowadays the new one is $20 where before they tried to get you for $200.

Sounds like a nice truck but I agree with Mike, a little pricey.

Offer them 21,500 and go from there.

I paid 28K for my F250 with more miles and no hole in the bed last May. I think it's a good price where I am.

I just paid 21K for my 01 in December and it has a lot more miles than that one. Where are you at in East TN?

An 03 7.3L Lariat with low miles goes for a high price. 26 to me isnt a bad deal. You cant buy a better truck than that and they know that. If you dont buy it someone else will. I paid more then that for my 02 last year and she had 37K on the ticker. Its practically the same truck.

KBB says sug. retail value is 28,610, with trade in value for the truck in its condition at 21,300.

You know what, I thought about this a little more.

Whatever price that YOU feel is fair and that YOU are comfortable with is what the truck is worth. I mean, if you like that truck and you want that truck and 26.5 is a good price for you then jump on it. If you want to pay a little less then offer less and see if they jump.

It's all in how bad you want it and also, like jmac said, they know someone else will buy it if you don't.

Let me clarify the noise. I do not think it had anything to do with the transmission since it was not constant. At higher RPMS's the noise was a slight metaillic ring while on the throttle but not when off. So when the noise was there as soon as you let off the throttle it began to dissipate. Let me compare it to this...here on FTE there is a banner (MKO Power Ad-just heard it) that has a truck racing across it that makes a noise. Surely most of you have heard/seen this. Take the same noise, make it a little less metaillic and hollow and faint. That's the noise.

No noise at low RPM/throttle position.

Maybe turbo? Maybe exhaust ring? I have no basis to compare this engine to other than a miserable experience with the 04 PSD F250.

A low milage truck is not always a good truck I can tell you that much I would pass. If you are up for a little drive up to Knoxville I know of three 7.3s that are in good shape for a decent price. A 2000 CC SB Lariat just like Jeff's truck, Oxford White and gold, cab lights, auto, bucket seats with a 120K without a scratch on it for 18K.
