I can not find any concentrated OAT antifreeze. Even if I get the mechanic to use the block drains, I got to believe I will never get a 50% mix using premixed coolant. If I switch to gold, is it already precharged with SCA? How often would I need to test gold?

Testing Gold Coolant
As I could not find any OAT/ELC concentrated for less than $30/gallon. Everyone is carrying 50/50 so they get to sell you twice as much and you are paying a huge preium for the deionize/distilled water. Therefore, I am going to switch from green to gold. How often does gold need to be tested for SCA? Are the same test strips used for both green and gold?

Gold is a Hybrid-OAT -- it doesn't need to be checked like green. It has some SCAs in it along with the OAT. You can test its pH every six months or year if you like, but I haven't bothered. Mine was replaced when I bought it due to the stat & temp sensor being replaced, so I know I'm good until put in the ELC.

My 02 came with Gold from the factory. The Zerez G-05 is pre-diluted while the Motorcraft Gold you get from the dealer is not. It was $11 for Zerex G-05 at Autozone and $9 for Motorcraft from the dealer... go figure

That Shell link was very useful. I wish Shell had given it to me when I called them. I would have been able to find the Rotella ELC locally; albeit, for $25.00 - $30.00 a gallon for concentrate.
The shop working on my truck has already flushed and filled using gold. Knowing that, I have read posts that I should check PH levels every 6 months even with gold antifreeze. Has anyone had to add SCA before 3-5 years to gold?
