Coolant

Hey all, I have a 2001 7.3 SD, and I have a question about coolant top off. I just got the truck it has 34K I assume it still has the original coolant in it, it is the green, If I need to top off would the premix sold a wally world be okay? I believe it is global final charge. Or do I need to use something else?

I don't think the final charge is compatible with the green. Even if it was gold, I wouldn't do it. The green requires the additive while the gold comes with it premixed if I am not mistaken. If you do not want to flush the system, I would use factory coolant and additive if necessary after testing it. At this point, I would recommend a flush and refill. Then the Wally final charge would be fine. It's made by Peak IIRC. Skip the BS many post about wally stuff. As long as it is not Super Tech, it is a name brand product written right on the product.

Wow, 2001 with only 34K on it? Sounds like you might have found a good one. Tenn is right, with the age of the green coolant you should probably flush and refill even though the milage is low. Read this if you want to flush:

Then you can fill with the final charge or Zerex G05 yellow. Might be a good time to throw on a coolant filter too.

I went with Zerex so I don't have to screw with the FW-15.
