Type F was used in some C-4s and the earlier Ford transmissions like the FMX or Cruise-o-Matic as I recall .... stuff going on back into the '60s or beyond.
Check before using type F in any transmission.
Just to add to my prior posting, if it helps, I checked the dipstick of my '77 F-150 / 351M / C-6 / 4x4 and it has "meeting specs of ESP-M2C138-CJ .... " on it. The guy I was talking about above worked at B&M in the early '70s or late '60s. I don't know that CJ really meant anything to do with Cobra Jets, it may have just been his way of remembering. It was a yellow looking fluid and he said it had whale oil in it and that was why it was no longer available.

I just did a quick search on that part number with the CJ after it, first off it was introduced in 77 supposedly, so NO it has virtually nothing to do with the cobra jets, second I don't know where this guy comes up with it being yellow, or having whale fat in it, sounds like a fish story to me (and yes I have been around long enough to know that ATF was not yellow) and that what that part number is, is nothing more then ford parts catalog number for Dexron II Series ATF. Oh and you mentioned he worked for B&M then he should have KNOWN that fluid wasn't related to the cobra jets because B&M trickshift is nothing more then type F which due to the friction modifiers in it makes the trans shift harder, and having known that if he actually worked for them he would know that the CJ fluid makes them shift easier and softer not firmer like a cobra jet would need.
