If I were you I would take the mechanism out of an 80-86 truck. They are not cables they are solid metal bars and much more reliable, you will not have to tear your door off again in 5 years
The HELP section in parts stores has them; I've put them on a few trucks.
I've noticed they will get tight and stick almost overnight on these trucks. Mine's done this twice and I fixed it by removing the door panel and lubing the cable. If someone gets in not knowing this and pulls too hard the cable will break. This is also why the handles commonly break on our trucks.

Well I kept mine lubed cause I knew the handles broke easily...but it poppede the little round thing off the end. Oh well.
Anyone got a link, I'm having a hell of a time finding one(mainly don't know what section it would be in)
I tried the help sections at the local parts places they didnt have it. I do have a doorman book at the shop I could look in.
I just had the same problem on my truck. NAPA and Advance show them in their online listings. I got mine next day through NAPA along with new bushings for the tailgate. Less than 30 bucks total for both.
