Hello there all, new to the site. From what i have read you all are great with advice. Now the problem i have a 97 f250 w/ 7.3, i spent the weekend upgrading with K/n air system, new 4inch exhast, egt gauge and the edge programmer. with the k/n and exhast only took off about a second and half off of time. very pleased could not wait to install progammer and that is when it all went south. it would not load past 24%. after talking with edge's tech staff, they and my mechanic think pcm is now shot. any thought of where to get one and how much do they run? should i chance loading programmer on new pcm? I am pulling 30' 5th wheel and am planning on heading to the rockys and the added hp would be nice. Comments??? thanks in advance
Well your tale is not the only one I have heard related to the Edge. Does the truck run at all? I really don't know anything about the Edge. If I were you I would send it back and get your money back then spend it on a chip from Tony Wildman here http://www.totaldieselperformance.com/
Does the Wait to start light come on when you turn the key on?
no the wts light does not come on at all, i have talked with jordan from edge and he has helped me out by sending me the back to stock programmer and a new programmer, however the back to stock will not load past 24%. my buddy (mechanic) has hooked up to the truck and he told me that pcm is not responding to the computer he hooked up. if i have to buy new pcm the wife is not wanting me to put any chip on
Oh its the back to stock programmer. Well I think Edge now owes you shipping and reflash money to send your PCM to DP-Tuner to have it flashed to stock. Or have them pay to have Ford do it. This problem is usually only on Edge programmers. I have not heard of superchips do it and an actual chip does have any problems as long as the key is off when you install the chip.
and no my truck does not start, just sits there looking pretty with new add ons ( feel like beating something or crying) sucks because i was told that edge was so good def thinkin twice now!!
pardon my stupidity what are you asking ? a cel ? just info the guys at edge said that it might be a voltage issue so i bought two new batterys and tried to instal back to stock and 24 was the highest it went.
I'm sorry to hear that your having problems with your edge.. I have one and I love mine.. no problems so far in mine truck or my moms 7.3 SUV.. but once you get your PCM reflashed I would get a TW chip.. I'll be getting one this summer, but I'm still glad I got the evo..

i know where u can get a PCM. the guy has them (prolly 30-50) of them stacked up on a shelf along with oodles of IDM's and buckets of injector cores. he has most stuff you'd ever need, but not my FPR spring i needed lol
with the key on the check engine light is on, however it isnt dim, its good and bright, no wts light, have checked all fuses and all good.....when i installed the programmer it took the stock settings and proceed to download tow setting and thats it the highest it ever got was 82%, and thats trying it about 8 times
you need to get the whole truck to the dealer, they should only charge about 50 bucks. they can reprogram your pcm as if it were a blank unit. they will manually program the truck using "as built" data from ford. not a hard thing to do if you get a diesel tech that knows what he is doing. i have had some luck programming them in the situation you describe. since it did run and you never got it programmed you have a 90% chance of being able to have it flashed. if you had it die after programming i would condem the pcm. All you should need to do is get the truck to the dealer and they can flash it.
