a big thanks to all of you, i got new pcm on the way, 408 out of pocket, high but it is worth having my truck back tomorrow. i need this truck for my part time / hobby ( carving names and designs in rock ) I dont think the wife would like a 300lb rock in the honda accord hehe AGAIN BIG THANKS TO ALL I WILL STICK WITH THIS SITE CUZ OF YOU ALL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have an edge too, but I have to say I would toss it into a pile of dog crap for a TW chip.......Finally got a chance to ride in one this past weekend. Another second off my 60 time OVER the edge in high tune. thats A LOT. look for my edge for sale soon on ebay........LOL
good question, i have only dealt with one 97 cali truck at the dealer, i think the problem is edge, not the trucks though. i have never had this happen on any other chips except edge. it would be interesting to find out what his truck is though.....
so is this problem on a cali truck?
C00nhunter: Out of curiosity I just clicked on the Autoanything link and they don't even list a chip for 1996 or 1997 PSD Hmmmmmmm!
i'm confused? whats the question and what its the autoanything link?
Sorry Joe, I should have expanded on my comment. ToughBuiltFord #27 this thread was talking about the successful side of the Edge EVO chip and listed the site of Autoanything. I clicked on the site and went thru the process to ascertain the price for an Edge chip for my 1997 PSD just out of curiosity.
In the Edge area where you are requested the year of your Ford, 1996 & 1997 were omitted from the application list.
I found this interesting because you wondered if it (the Edge/PCM failure) was a '97 PSD issue or maybe a Cali issue (I think)
What I would like to know is if I am safe? Had the evo for a few months now with no problems. Will it stay that way or can I expect my PCM to go south on me any time I change programs?

This is just a WAG. But it you were to go that route i believe you would have the problem. Your truck is a cali split. I just really think this is where the issue stems from. 97 can be single or split injected. PCM's are not the same.

Yours is a 94. You are good to go.

Rest assured that I have no intention of buying and or installing an Edge chip. If and when I do "Chip" it will be TW or DP. I don't need Edges Curse.
Funny mine did the same thing, llokin to get reflash done atm, still workin with Edge to see what they think. i did try another PCM from a van 7.3 just to get mine started and moved, then tried the tuner on it and it worked fine so not sure whats goin on yet
