No start neutral safety switch problems
I would jack the truck up on all four corners
it CAN be done without doing that but PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE use wheel stops or chocks(sp?)
once you disengage the Neutral Safety Switch the truck will want to roll if at an incline
that being said, relax . . . this is a super simple fix
it's literally a remove and replace type of procedure
remove the sensor harness and clean it up with some rubbing alcohol and a cotton swab if you'd like . . . or some cleaning solution made specifically for sensors and electrical components but this is not necessary
remove the two or three bolts from the switch and replace with the new one.
make sure you put the selector bar back where it was. this is what moves your gear selector at the column
it will be a little tough but it IS doable and NO it wont NOT work lol
it might be tough to get back on there but it WILL go in.
you'll see what i mean
once you get it back in make sure you move the selector bar in place and have someone make sure it is in PARK in the cab if you'd like to double check
reinstall the bolts and the harness and you're good to go
no more starting problems
at least not because of the switch
if this doesn't work, check your multi function switch in the column with a multimeter
set it to ohms and test each circuit in there. you might find one that doesnt make the multimeter sound and this will tell you that it is broken and THERE is your problem
good luck
the picture that wingman gave you a link for . . . look at the bottom left side of the picture
from the angle you will be in when checking for this thing. that is what you will see when you get under there.
it is about the size of a credit card or a small cellphone
you can't miss it. it is usually sitting out there on the trans all by itself and like i said, usually it is right underneath the floor pan between the pedals and the front of the seat
