i'm going blind, or so it seems at night when i try to back up! i cant see crap! where would be the best place to hook a set of large back up lights into on my truck? just splice into the wire for the regular backup lights?
I have seen people get the big tractor lights from Wally World or TSC. I got some $15 foglights, extra wiring, and a toggle switch to put on my truck. I am going to run it to the fuse box or to the battery and put a toggle switch on it so I can use it when I want to.
i had them run off of the regular back up lights. i just had some cheap fog lights from wal mart and bolted them under the bumper, till i backed into a snow pile and broke them.
most people that I have seen mount them hanging upside down under bumper.(those are usually the tractor style lights) I would get the Long thin style lights usually around 3" L x 3/4 to 1" tall then mount to bottom lip of bumper or on top of the real trailor hitch. Maybe enough room under license plate if you dont bumper pull trailer ever. I would be cautios with mounting under bumper departure angles on these trucks aren't that great.

I've got a set of THESE on the sides of the receiver angled out. Surprisingly bright for 3.5" $10 lights.....and tucked up out of the way where they don't get damaged.
The halogen fog lights mounted in the cab protector are my back up lights on the ole Superduty. They light the bed and hitching area too and are darned handy. Ran a seperate wire to a manual switch. Work good for tailgators that dont know how to dim thier lights too, LOL Not sure how you woud mount a set like this on a regular pickem up truck unless you had a roll bar?
I've been thinking about putting a set of fog lights under the bed of my truck triggered by a relay off of my backup signal.
I haven't got around to it yet, but it would be up above the line of sight of any vehicle behind me so it would be legal.
In brief - a set of floodlights that come on while backing up that light up the pavement.
If you have backward facing white lights on your truck you can be fined if they don't either point downwards so they don't blind following drivers, or have covers on them.

I thought thats what they were best suited for....
