My family is getting ready for subsistance fishing for king salmon. One more month then the fun and work begins. We fish the easy way. A 300ft 71/4in mesh net. We fish out of eather a 18ft lund with a 40hp or a 22ft pacific skiff with a 140hp motor. Put up about a 100 kings for the next winter. We can drift for as little as 10 minutes or as long as 2hrs.
I went this last weekend. I didn't catch many but we got 2 inches of rain the night before. It scattered the fish. I'll be filling my freezer with crappie fillets for sure. I do it every spring. I have a polorcraft 16 ft aluminum heavy duty boat designed for duck hunting. Its camouflaged with camo clad material. It works great for fishing too. I have a 30 hp Johnson on it.
On one site I frequent, I posted a profile saying I was a fisherman. Duh in the desert.
It is so funny that I really didn't get too excited about fishing until I moved to Las Vegas. Prior, I lived in a fishing haven of central Idaho.
Now, I fish for stripers on lake mead, and in the river below lake Mohave.
But my best fishing, is going to Idaho in the late Spring or early Summer, and fly fishing on Silver Creek near Sun Valley, or the Madison, or the head waters of the Snake at the base of the Tetons. This is just some of my fishing endevors. Fishing is a great sport/hobby/pastime. And I love meeting new people, and sharing stories, and ideas.

Isn't it nice fly fishing on the Madison and the Snake?
I've also fly fished the Gallatin, Firehole, Yellowstone, Flathead, and sooooooo
many other waters.
Gallatin, Firehole Yep I have fished those. It is so funny because I am a self taught flyfisherman. I feel inferior to the REAL fly casters. But I do get to hook a fair amount of fish. It is a great sport. My wife is starting to get into this kind of fishing. But I must say I might need to get a good instucter for her. Teachers, are hard to teach!
