yep, almost time to fish. I love fishing for bass with my thinfins. Any of yall remember those lures. One of the best lures ever. too bad they stopped making them.
i've caught bass on alka-seltzer. The bass cant stand the fizzing noise, they have to grab it. The hardest part is making a hole in it for the hook without it breaking. Sounds stupid i know, but it works. Plus you dont have to wait forever for bass to hit because in a couple minutes it's gone. plop, plop, fizz, fizz....i got one!!..LOL
I fish every chance I get. I fish for bass, crappie & bream I live for feel the tug of a fish on my line. Our lakes will be in great shape this spring. We have had a huge amount of rain. We needed it bad since the lakes haven't been full for the last 2 yrs due to drought. I catch & fillet as many crappie as I can every yr & freeze them for summer cookouts. Crappie are my favorite fish to eat. I catch & release the bass I catch.
When I lived close to the ocean, I was a huge fisherman. Offshore and in the surf. I live close enough now to go a few times a year, but I don't because the catch limits have been reduced to the point where it is not worth it. The freezer used to be full year round. I miss those days!
That bottom one looks like the lagoon and makes me want to go out and fish.
My fiance caught a 48" redfish 2 years ago there and it took like 30 minutes
to get it in!! She only had 30# test line on it was spiderwire but still that fish
was at least 50#. We were using jumbo shrimp and I put the biggest one on
and it was like 7 or 8" dang shrimp and like a meal itself!! There are some
mean tarpon out there that I have only seen once but have had them on my
line and snap the spider line everytime!! I could cast in to the same spot and
let it run with the current then BOOM! it would take off and 7 seconds later slack
it was like I caught a submarine or something. I have a big penn rod and reel and
most people laugh when I bring it out since it dwarfs most folks poles but I broke
one too many rods. I have almost been turned over in my canoe by some of them
fish out there. Pulling 3 and 4 foot hammer heads and bulls sharks out of the river there usually freaks people out I brought with me since they don't believe they would
live in a river but it is connected to the ocean and they are like well it isn't pure salt water and then I jump in and go for a swim!! Freaks them out everytime.
When I was a kid I would wade across the river and just swim across the channel and fish all day long, cast net my bait and then start a fire on an island and cook my catch and then walk back at dusk.
about the only time I have to go fishing any more is when i take my kids on the weekends i have them,so I don't get a whole heck of a lot of fishing done because i am taking care of 3 poles, sometimes all at once!! but it puts a big smile on my face when they pull the fish out of the water and say"look how big this one is,daddy!!" and it is a little blue gill I should set a time aside for myself this summer and go camp out down by the mighty Mississippi and night fish for some big cats. been quite a few years since I have done that. No boat for me,all bank fishing. I do take the kids out to one of the local state parks and rent a john boat a couple times a year, throw my trolling motor on it and putt around bass fishing. kids don't get bored cause they are seeing new scenery and bass fishing is better for them than just drowning worms.
i am still waiting to catch my first fish. went fishing last summer and into the fall and didn't catch anything. but i don't feel too bad because my wife didn't either.
i would like to be egotistic about it and say its not me, but yes, i know its me, i am just not doing it right, that or there is actually no fish in the river i go to.
one time i saw a big fish that kept jumping out of the water, i guess eating bugs, and i casted my line over there and the thing still did not bite my hook.
