I never tie any type of line to my reel; only because if that fish takes all of your
line off of your reel, it could possibly pull your rod and reel out of your hand, and it's lost.
In my case, I'd rather lose a line $70 fly line, $15 backing, $5 leader, and a $5 fly,
than a $250 fly reel and a $500 fly rod.
Holy crap, Ben....just what are you fishing for anyway?

Minnows, the size of steel heads on the Babine River, in British Columbia.
Seriously, one never knows what size fish they're going to hook onto.
A buddy of mine, while we were camping in Alaska, had his daughter throw in a
wad of fishing line, which was wrapped around her arm, and a lure into a
small river, when a local told him that was dangerous because some big fish
could hook itself and drag her into the water.
I just got all geared up for freshwater and need to drag out the 12' boat and go over it.I am going to sell my 19 footer this year as I didn't have the time or money to use it last year, maybe I can trade it for a 15hp and trailer for my 12'.
Just got out of the boat. Finished retying, and changing baits getting ready for tomorrows tounament. Looks like a great day for bass. 35-45 degrees, cloudy and rain with wind. Sounds great, huh?
I've been thinking about getting one of these for lake fishing.
Only problem is their expensive, at $775.
You can carry it on your back since they only weigh 5 lbs.
They look like fun.
wheres the motor,im 2 old and lazy 4 this one.but u can get places with this where the fish has never seen a lure.alumn.john is about as much$ but its hard 2 pack in.

they do make inflatables that have a place to mount a motor, but i am sure they cost more and weigh more than the 5 lbs Ben was talking about. I was seriously considering an inflatable a few years back because I don't have room to park a boat and trailer. I now have 3 kids,so an inflatable is pretty much out of the question. We just bank fish and a couple times a year I rent a john boat at one of the state parks around here, and we putt around with a trolling motor.
