23inch snook and 20 inch red on saturday, sunday i went to tarpon lake, threw the cast net a couple of times and had some shiners and shad to put out under some corks for large mouth, only cought 1 about 17 inches
Ah, but they all swam away to be caught again. The rod rack was my design and welded up by my buddy. That's a design 20 years in the making. Never really thought about fishing off the front bumper at the coast and the rear bumper on the lakes. LOL
The fuel costs are getting a bit silly. $800 fill ups are tough to swallow, and my boat isnt that big. Some my friends have 500 gallon tanks. It definitely affects how far and how fast I will go.
make sure that the line comes off your spool the same way it goes on your reel.this prevents line twist, also some reels when going 2 a larger line diam. u have 2 use less line. braid is funny , it works great sometimes it dont.hope this helped.
all i use is braid with longgggggggg leaders, you have to use it like fly line.....take a 15ft piece of mono, tie it on to your reel, connect the braid and mono and spool it up.
braid is very hard to start the spool with, its stiff like mentioned above, and doesnt grab the spool in the beginning. once the mono is on, then the braid will go on tight on the reel, and then problems like not casting are solved, along with other problems that will occur if you dont use this method.
trust me theres more fisherman, registerd boat owners here in fla than anywhwere in the us, i have lost probably well over 100 bucks on braid not knowing that simple stupid little rule......you might be able to get away with it on your larger reels, but not on smaller reels........now tie on a piece of leader and your good to go
tks for the advice, I switched out to some I think fly fishing line that I've had for years and that solved my problem. But next time I will defiantly try the mono method.
I never tie any type of line to my reel; only because if that fish takes all of your
line off of your reel, it could possibly pull your rod and reel out of your hand, and it's lost.
In my case, I'd rather lose a line $70 fly line, $15 backing, $5 leader, and a $5 fly,
than a $250 fly reel and a $500 fly rod.
