Hey,
I'm working on pulling the 6.9L out of my 84 F250. I have everything unhooked and all of the engine to bellhousing bolts out. I tried hoisting it out and it only moves up and won't come forward. It acts like its still attached to the tranny. Any ideas?
sounds like the motor mount stud is still in the frame......and catching. i have had mine out enough to beable to pull the motor in about an hr.......the first time it happened like you described. i wasn't lifting it high enough to get it to pull forward.
polarisman - if you have all the bolts out and engine high enough as described below - then you need to pry the engine and trans apart with prybars/screwdrivers .......if youre from oswego ny - that explains it - salt corrosion on the alignment pins between engine/trans.........just went thru what you are with '86 f-250 4x4 w/ 460.....a LITTLE heat in the pin area of bellhousing might help too.....good luck
hmmm.....I can't remember if i pulled 6 bolts out of the bellhousing to engine mount.....I'm thinking I only got 4. Will look tomorrow. I will also check to see if the alignment pins are froze (may be my problem). Thanks guys.
