Dr. Performance modules

Long time reader first time poster. Is anybody using the Dr. Performance Predator modules? Their claim to fame is not needing to mod the exhaust or air intake, if I am reading the material correctly. The lit. says the module works different than others,ie DP tuners. They say it is burning the fuel differently. I am just wanting something simple to get me a little beter fuel economy. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

well i guess i will be the first to welcome you to the site...but ive never heard of that before but with the DP-tuner they have a tune that your "suppose" to get better fuel mileage although its tough bcuz i always like to shoot out the black smoke.

farmnurse, the main thing to undertand about a diesel engine is that the more air that can be passed through with the least amount of restriction the better they run. a diesel uses, on average, 7x more air than a standard gas engine. the first step to better fuel economy would be to keep your RPM's under 2,000. the second would be to open up the intake and exhaust. if you are thinking about any kind of tuner i would strongly recommend that you get gauges. ie. pyro, egt, and tranny if you have an automatic

Welcome to FTE. Do you have a link to the Dr's stuff? I need a good laugh after the week I had. Works different eh? Only so many ways to alter the tuning on a 7.3.

At any rate, you are doing the right thing. Ask about something before buying. No sense letting experience go to waste. There is a lot of it here.

This is what I have found so far. I am new to alot of this diesel stuff. I bought this 2001 f250 crew cab 4x4 a month ago. Since I bought, I have replaced ball joints, exhaust donuts on the up pipes to exhaust splitter (massive leak), replaced glow plugs (3 were bad) and uvc harness. Good way to check glow plugs, test light to the terminals on the gasket connector. Clip to positive on battery and touch GP terminals in connector, light good, no light bad. Now I m working on the battery light flickering. I am doing all the work myself. I will keep reading, I am learning alot

Get a DP and never look back. There, I said it. I am not even running DP tunes right now. I still have the sticker on the window though, LOL. That is because, well because it is the shizzle.

that DR module is nothing more than an 18K mod (the 10K mods big brother). you can get the parts at radioshak for less than $20. aw, shoot, here is a link http://www.forgotton.net/mods/indexframe.html

If you are going to spend the $325, then call jody at DP and tell him you want a mileage tune with some decent power. He will be able to set you up for about the $325 +or - a few dollars.
Please do not make the same mistake that alot of us previously made. Call DP first and you will be very happy.
