When I last posted I was considering the Dr. Performance module, I have installed it and have been running it for two days now. I know it is early to make a full assessment but, I have seen the lie-o-meter as it is refered to here on this board go to 14 avg for Utah city miles. The avg meter is usally quite close to hand calculated milelage in that it says that I get 11 yet 10 is the hand calculated result. I know that this board is dominated by spartan users but the module has also given me consistant response from the accelerator and so far I have not had to wait for a half mile of clear road to pull out into traffic. Certainly I will have to wait for several tanks of fuel to make a definitive judgement on this product however, the good part is that there is very little chance of losing the waranty. The module does not leave a footprint on the ecm so I can remove it very quickly and replace the harness to factory. Also, last night there was a f250 6.4 on the same road as me so I instigated a small challenge up the hill. I left him like he was standing still with very little effort. We were on a very sttep incline going about 50 when we both accelarated and before he quit I was doing 85 up hill and there was lots left in the engine. This really does what it claims, I only wish I had not had as much trouble with mine. I would absolutely love to stack the spartan and dr. Performance together. The milage increase would be awsome not to mention the power to pass with little effort. Anyway i will post better data when I use up this tank of diesel.
question? does this dr performance create black smoke, i think these units are mostly fueling boxes and i would be afraid that it would clog my dpf prematurely and they would can my warranty, also i had one of these on my 6.0l and my tranny went out, apparently they dont change the line presure to the tranny?
No, there isn't any smoke coming out. Actually it changes the rail pressure and does not add more fuel like the programmers. So, if that holds then there are less particulates for the filter to catch.
It hooks up at the manifold area, under the air filter passenger side. The module connects to the manifold then the factory harness goes inline with the module. It does not reprogram the ecm or connect with it in anyway. The ecm sends rail pressure info then the module changes that signal, so the ecm is fooled into thinking that it is doing the work. They list it at 80hp/160tr increase, and I feel the difference in performance. The process took fifteen minutes, and that was because my hands did not fit in there without removing the air filter.
