shifter linkage

HI this is my first time posting. I changed my shifter collar, when i put it back together, I could not shift into 1st and reverse. 2nd and 3rd was easy. So i am going to replace the shifter tube also. It would go in but it was hard. This is on a 70 f-100 half ton 3 speed. somebody please help Thanks

I've never messed with any column shift mechanisms. Always switched them to floorshift.

It sounds like you got something put together wrong, or just in a bind.

when i did mine i had to pull colunm up on the adjustment slots on dash because shifter tube hit something i dont remember what it hit on.mine is converted to power steering
