I have a 1960 F350 with a 223 and I'm working on getting it started. So I need help on identifying this little nipple that is right below the carb. I can get a vacuum reading from it when I crank the engine. But what's it to? My shop manual doesnt say anything about it.
Here is a picture of it:
It attaches to one side of the fuel pump at the top. The other side goes to the wipers. At least that's how mine was set up. I am switching to 12v wipers and capped it off.
That looks like direct manifold vacume,it's below the throttle plate.if your not using it for anything, by all means..cap it off. It would be a major vucume leak otherwise and make your engine run ,leaner, because it's sucking air. You need a richer mixture when cold, this open line will not help..I hope that helps.

Do you have a Vaccume Gauge in the Dash Panel?
If so, that what's supposed to be hooked up to it, as far as my book states.
I think it used to have a vacuum gauge, that would make sense i think. There is a random hose that leads into the cab that could maybe fit on that both.

That'll be it then.
Well it seems you live extremely close to me, as my home is just above Pomona Valley Hospital & we're able to hear the Drags @ Fair Grounds.
yeah I actually used to live in La Verne a few blocks away from the fair grounds. That's cool! It's a bummer though since the truck is out in AZ at my grandpa's house. I go out there every other month or so. I'm hoping to get it out here in CA soon.
