Wow this is a lot of crewcab action in only about a week.. I have 2 77crewcabs. both were originally F350 2wd longbeds. 1 cab came from Silver City NM, other from Drayton Ontario. The NM cab has no rot in the roof at all, only one I've seen like it, other is very solid but has a few pin holes on Rside. The Ontario cab has no cab mounts left and front floors are getting rough so I am selling the complete roof to a buddy who brought a crew up from Texas and his roof is ucked.

This is an interesting forum, but has a lot of BS.

I also have 4 67-72 crewcabs in assorted conditions, only 2 are worthy of driving...... I'll never part with those!!!!!!!!

 

I'm pretty sure it was out of print when I read it. I'll keep looking around.

That first one looks promising.

 

the only reason I mentioned it, is if you make a shorty bed, and a crewcab cab, you have no place to put the front filler. you could add a cab tank instead, or install a 35 gallon rear tank, but I would start with a non-midship tank truck to keep it simple and reduce possible remorse in the future.

 

my crew already has the tank in the cab but thanks for lookin out.. im also workin on a guy with an extra cab long bed thought i might get more length that way thanks for the info

 

Hello everyone, my first post although I've been a member almost a year. That's how long it took me to find MY CC. 1979 F-250 2wd, 460 auto. It seems to be in pretty awsome shape(if you disreguard the drip rail rust), and I think I got a good deal on it. I have a 79 standard 4x4 F-350 that I was oringinally going to build, now I think it will be a doner to the CC (4x4, 4-speed). I enjoy reading everyone's posts and learn a bit too. I will put up pics soon.

 

I guess I misread your post, I'll try to post pictures of my stretch F-150 this weekend. its covered with ice right now. it does have midship tank and rear. the cab had a cab tank, but I welded up the hole.

this truck started life as a 300-6/3sp truck with no options save chrome bumpers. now its a crewcab, 390 4v C-6,A/C, P/S, dual tanks (77-79 bed)

perhaps the next step in its journey is to become an F-250 4x4...

I have a 1977 F250, 4x4, crew cab, high boy, np435 manual transmission, divorced np 205 xfer case. I replaced the stock 400 cid with a 460 using the stock motor stantions and L&L conversion motor mounts. I replaced the stock body bushings with new poly bushings and 1/4" thick fender washers. I don't want to lift the body any higher. I want to get a good set of fender well exhaust headers. I have been looking at L&L #79750B. They recommend a 3" body lift but I have seen them installed without the lift. Some inner fender sheet metal was removed but very little. I would like to hear from those that have done this, or something very similar and get recommendations/suggestions for good quality headers that will fit, and last.

 

By the way guys, that pic is not my truck. It was on ebay a year or so ago. My truck is bare frame right now. But I did get my crew cab home saturday. I'll have some pics up tomorrow. Here's some more crew cab shorty bed pics.

Maybe it's because I took them - in front of my house...

The black truck doesn't really fit what we are talking about I don't think. It is on a 2004 dodge frame with the 5.9" cummins in it. The guy stretched the front end and shortened the bed to make it fit the dodge frame. The proportions of the red one make it much better looking IMO.

The nose looks almost as long as the bed on the black one making it look weird. Plus having that much frame showing doesn't look good to me either. I will give the guy one thing - the stretch of the fron and shortening of the rear were done VERY cleanly. Great body work on it!

 

Any idea of what wheelbase the red one is on? It does look like the bed is still somewhat usefull... I have a 139" supercab shortbed chassis that I am thinking would work well with a Crewcab on it and a trimmed down shortbed.

Very nice looking truck that red one. Hey at least the Dodge chassis had a cummins and dana axles

 

yeah - the cummins and dana axles were cool, but I'd rather swap them onto the ford frame then do a weird looking body to make them fit on the dodge frame.
In fact I like the cummins so much I'm putting one in mine...
